AAFCP Annual Meeting Update

The American Academy of FertilityCare Professionals 30th Annual Meeting, July 20-23 in Duluth, MN was educational and encouraging. We spent time learning about bold communication, current statistics, and reviewing medical literature on the topic of FertilityCare and NaproTechnology. Some of the topics covered were; "The Fetal Safety of Progesterone in Pregnancy", by Dr. Thomas W. Hilgers; "The Effects of Sleep Disorders on Fertility and Pregnancy Outcomes", by Dr. Lynn Keenan; "Stem Cells and Biotechnology: Lifesaving Challenges", by David Prentice, PhD; "Nutrition, Self-Care and Fertility", by Dr. Kathleen Kobbermann.
During the meeting, the Twin Cities FertilityCare Center received two awards. The first award was for 10 plus years of service and affiliation with the FertilityCare Centers of America. We also received the second place prize for creatively promoting Natural Family Planning week in March of 2011. We are honored to receive these awards and acknowledgements.

SPICE
The use of any natural method of fertility regulation requires the adoption of a form of behavior which, if it is the couple's intention to avoid a pregnancy, requires that genital contact be periodically avoided. However, sexual contact should never be avoided. Sexual contact involves true sexual interaction and is therefore multidimensional. Sexually loving your spouse will take many forms. When teaching couples the Creighton Model FertilityCare System, Practitioners discuss SPICE. SPICE is the acronym for loving your spouse Spiritually, Physically, Intellectually, Creatively, and Emotionally. Using SPICE brings love to life!
Over the next couple months we will share with you ideas on how to actively live out each of the five sexual ways to love your spouse.
SPIRITUALLY
* Pray for one another daily
* Attend a lecture on a spiritual topic
* Ask each other questions about how religon was lived out in your families of origin
* Read Scripture verses to each other
* Go on a Mission Trip together
* Attend Church together
* Pray the Rosary
* Regularly receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, don't forget to ask forgiveness of your spouse and forgive each other
* Read "Humanae Vitae"
* Tell your spouse that, "I love you and I love everything about you" this is a profoundly spiritual experience
